Liverpool have already identified Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement if contract agreement can’t be reached

Liverpool Have Identified Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Replacement If Contract Talks Fail

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool is still shrouded in uncertainty, with the Reds desperate to tie him down to a new contract. But, according to Caught Offside, the club have already identified a replacement in case the negotiations fall through.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, where his close friend and England colleague Jude Bellingham has been thriving. However, Liverpool are keen to keep Alexander-Arnold at Anfield and are in discussions with his camp over a new deal that would keep him at the club until 2028 or 2029.

But, in the unlikely event that Alexander-Arnold departs, Liverpool have already set their sights on Feyenoord’s talented right-back, Lutsharel Geertruida. The 20-year-old has impressed in the Eredivisie and has already caught the eye of several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

Geertruida’s versatility is one of his major attractions, with the ability to play as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, in addition to his natural right-back position. He has already worked under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot at Feyenoord, winning both the KNVB Cup and Eredivisie.

Liverpool will not rush into a transfer for Geertruida, with the club keen to assess his development further. However, if the club’s contract talks with Alexander-Arnold fail, they will need to act quickly to secure the young Dutchman’s signature.

Alexander-Arnold is currently enjoying time off after Euro 2024 and is not expected to be part of Liverpool’s pre-season preparations. The Reds have named a 28-man squad for their US tour, with youngsters Jayden Danns and Bobby Clark not included.
