Liverpool Flop Naby Keita on the Move Again After Exile at Werder Bremen
It’s been a tumultuous few years for Naby Keita, the Guinea international who once looked set to be a star for Liverpool. But after struggling to find his feet at Anfield and subsequently being exiled at Werder Bremen, the midfielder is now on the move again.
According to reports, Keita is in talks with Istanbul Basaksehir over a potential transfer. The Turkish club, managed by Cagdas Atan, already boasts a talented squad featuring Krzysztof Piatek, Olivier Kemen, and Matchoi Djalo. For Keita, a move to Turkey could be the fresh start he needs to revitalize his career.
But what’s gone wrong for Keita? Since signing for Liverpool in 2018, the 29-year-old has started just 49 Premier League games due to a series of injuries. Last season, he was even suspended and fined by Werder Bremen after refusing to travel with the team for a match against Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite his struggles, Keita remains a talented midfielder with experience in Germany and England. At Red Bull Salzburg, he starred for three seasons before making the move to RB Leipzig, where he played 71 games and scored 17 goals. At Liverpool, he featured in 129 matches but struggled to stay fit, which limited his game-time.
So, where next for Keita? A move to Turkey could be the perfect opportunity for him to rebuild his career. With his experience and quality on the pitch, he could be a valuable addition to Basaksehir’s midfield.
