Liverpool Fans Think They’ve Cracked Diogo Jota’s New Goal Celebration
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a unique goal celebration from Diogo Jota, but on Saturday, the Portuguese forward showed off a brand new move during Liverpool’s clash with Crystal Palace. Now, Reds fans on social media think they’ve figured out what it means – and it’s all down to his love of FIFA.
As soon as Jota scored the opener against Palace, he celebrated in style, striking a pose that left fans scratching their heads. But, upon closer inspection, some think they’ve spotted a connection to the popular football video game.
Posting on Twitter, one fan wrote: "Jota did the Rodman FIFA celebration," while another agreed, but suggested it was actually a different celebration from the EA Sports game. "Jota doing FC 25 ladder celebration. The guy loves FIFA," they argued.
For those who might not be familiar, Diogo Jota has often spoken about his love for FIFA, even admitting to being addicted to the game after representing Portugal at an international tournament for the game. In fact, in April last year, Jota showed off a similar FIFA-inspired celebration after scoring a late winner against Tottenham Hotspur.
This latest celebration has sparked debate among Liverpool fans, with some convinced it’s a nod to his love of FIFA, while others believe it’s a reference to comedian Bob Mortimer’s Uno celebration from his BBC series ‘Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing’.
So, what do you think? Have you spotted the connection between Jota’s celebration and FIFA? Let us know in the comments!
