Liverpool Eyeing Shock Move for Chelsea Flop as Mohamed Salah Replacement
As Mohamed Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire next summer, the Reds are reportedly considering a shock move for a Chelsea flop as his potential replacement. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Liverpool chiefs are keeping tabs on Christian Pulisic’s development at AC Milan.
Pulisic, 26, joined AC Milan from Chelsea for £18.8 million in the summer of 2023 after struggling to make an impact at Stamford Bridge. However, he has since rediscovered his form, delivering impressive performances for his new team.
The report claims that Milan would demand at least £33.3 million for the USA international, who has a contract with the Italian giants until 2026. If Liverpool were to snap up Pulisic, it would mirror their acquisition of Salah, who starred after leaving Chelsea, where he struggled.
Salah, 32, has been a key player for Liverpool since 2017, inspiring the club to Premier League and Champions League triumphs. However, his current contract is set to expire next summer, and there are concerns that this could be his final season at Anfield.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s league clash against Wolves, manager Arne Slot addressed the speculation surrounding Salah’s contract situation. "I’m very happy that these players are in my team at the moment," he said, referencing Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. "There’s a lot of games this season and in the upcoming weeks, let’s see what happens in the future."
If Liverpool were to lose Salah, Pulisic could be an attractive option to replace him. The American winger has shown his quality in Italy, and his pace and skill on the wing could be a valuable asset for the Reds.
This move would also be a repeat of Liverpool’s successful coup in signing Salah from Chelsea, who struggled to find his form at Stamford Bridge. If Pulisic can replicate Salah’s success, it could be a shrewd move by the Reds to secure his services.
