Liverpool’s Transfer Woes Continue as Giorgi Mamardashvili Deal Hangs in the Balance

The summer transfer window is barely halfway through, and Liverpool are still struggling to make any significant additions to their squad. Arne Slot’s inability to land his top target has left fans worried that another season of underwhelming performances is on the horizon.
As it stands, the Reds have only signed one player, Harvey Elliott, this summer, leaving many of their squad members to pick up the pieces from last season’s disappointments. But the biggest disappointment has been the failure to land Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Now, the club’s hopes of landing another key player, Giorgi Mamardashvili, seem to be hanging by a thread. The 23-year-old Valencia goalkeeper has been impressive at Euro 2024, and his agent has been fielding offers from top clubs across Europe. But, as per a report by Plaza Deportiva, the deal is currently stuck in a state of limbo.
According to sources, Valencia are not impressed with Liverpool’s €30m bid, which is a full €10m short of their valuation. Mamardashvili’s current club are growing concerned that the deal is dragging on, and the clock is ticking to secure his services.
With Premier League rules prohibiting loan deals, Mamardashvili would need to be sold outright or remain at Valencia until next summer. Given his impressive form at the Euros, it’s likely that he would prefer to make a more permanent move. The longer this situation drags on, the more unlikely it becomes that Mamardashvili will join the Reds.
Valencia’s head coach, Ruben Baraja, remains tight-lipped about the situation, but it’s clear that the situation is getting increasingly complicated. Liverpool need to get their act together if they’re to land their man and fill the gap left by Alisson Becker, who has three years remaining on his contract.
For now, the uncertainty surrounding Mamardashvili’s future has left fans frustrated and worried. With each passing day, the chances of him joining Liverpool dwindle. But there’s still hope, and the Reds can ill-afford to lose their nerve.
