Lionel Messi scores early goal to add to Inter Miami lead over Nashville SC in CONCACAF Champions Cup


Lionel Messi added another goal to his tally and piled onto a woeful Nashville SC start against Inter Miami on Wednesday in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 in Fort Lauderdale.

Messi calmly finished past Nashville SC goalkeeper Joe Willis in the 23rd minute to give Miami a 2-0 lead in the game and a commanding 4-2 lead in the aggregate score.

Messi also had an assist on a Luis Suarez goal in the 8th minute to give Inter Miami the lead in the game and in the aggregate. Both Messi and Suarez had second-half goals as Nashville SC threw away a 2-0 lead in the first leg last Thursday.

The Nashville SC-Inter Miami winner will face the FC Cincinnati-Monterrey winner in the round of 8. Monterrey earned a 1-0 win in Cincinnati in the first leg last week, with the second leg set for kickoff on Thursday.
