Lionel Messi broke another record for Inter Miami on Monday morning, as the 37-year-old draws 1–1 against Toronto FC at MLS. Messi became the highest scorer for the club in MLS, for the 39th time in his career, crossing fellow countrymen and former international team fellow Gonzalo Higuen.
Messi painted in the early shee for Xavier Maschherano’s side, and pulled her side level in the first half of the first half, when Federico Bernardchi expelled the visitors from the front a few minutes before. Messi’s perfect touch on the edge of the penalty region set him up for a blistering half volley, with opposition keeper scene Johnson and his way in the right corner below.
With its third MLS target of the season, Messi is now the record holder for the most target contribution for Miami, with 44. The earlier record by Higin was achieved in 67 demonstrations. On the other hand Messi required only 29 regular season performance to reach the summit.
Since joining Heronss in July 2023, Messi took him to the league cup in his first season, in front of the shield of supporters in October last year. His disqualified numbers at MLS also handed over Argentina to Landon Donovan MLS MVP Award in the previous season.
Miami is currently in second place in the MLS Eastern Conference Standing, following the Columbus Crew from the same point. Messi and the company have a monumental function at the end of this week, as they host the Los Angeles FC for the second phase of the ConcacAF Champions Cup, which proceeds 1-0 in total.
