Hamilton Picks Messi Over Ronaldo – But Why?
As the debate rages on about who’s the greatest footballer of all time, Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton has weighed in on the topic. And his answer might surprise you.
When asked to choose between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Hamilton didn’t hesitate. "Messi, of course!" he declared. But what makes him tick?
For starters, Hamilton has always been a huge fan of the beautiful game. Growing up in Stevenage, England, he would often play with his friends and neighbors. "I was the only kid of color there, and I really wanted to fit in," he said in an interview. But it was his sister who ultimately converted him to an Arsenal fan. "My sister Sam would punch me in the arm and tell me I had to support Arsenal!"
As a keen football enthusiast, Hamilton’s admiration for Messi is hardly surprising. The Argentine genius has consistently dominated the sport for over a decade, bagging an astonishing 900 career goals. But there’s more to Hamilton’s admiration than just sheer skill.
"I think Messi’s humility and dedication to his craft are qualities that everyone can admire," Hamilton told ESPN. "He’s a true legend of the game, and I feel honored to be able to watch him play."
Despite his admiration for Messi, Hamilton has also been spotted with Ronaldo on several occasions. The two superstars even posed for a photo together at the 2019 Monaco GP. However, Hamilton’s loyalty remains with the Gunners. "I’m a sporting fan, and football is the biggest sport in the world," he said. "Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs, and I’m proud to support them."
