Kylian Mbappe Misses Out on Becoming La Liga’s Highest Earner
The French sensation, Kylian Mbappe, has signed a lucrative five-year deal with Real Madrid, making him one of the highest-earning players in the division. However, a recent report from Spanish outlet AS claims that Mbappe is not the highest earner in La Liga, despite his massive contract with Real Madrid.
According to The Sun, Mbappe will earn £26.3 million per season, which puts him in third place in the divisional top earners. The highest earner, surprisingly, is Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, who earns £31.6 million per year. Robert Lewandowski, another Barcelona player, comes in second with £28.2 million, while Real Madrid’s David Alaba is in fourth with £19 million.
It’s worth noting that both Mbappe and Alaba joined Real Madrid on free transfers, with the Austrian defender arriving from Bayern Munich in 2022. Mbappe, on the other hand, signed for Real Madrid on July 1, following the expiry of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Euro 2024 didn’t exactly provide the perfect preparation for Mbappe’s move to Madrid, as he suffered a broken nose during France’s opening group game against Austria. He needed to wear protective equipment in subsequent matches, which seemed to affect his performance. Real Madrid’s medical staff reportedly don’t believe that Mbappe will need surgery to correct the break, and he has been ruled out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Mbappe’s Real contract will make him one of the highest-paid players in the world, but he won’t be the highest earner in La Liga. The French forward has had an impressive career so far, winning numerous titles with Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team. He will be looking to continue his success with Real Madrid and prove that he is worth every penny of his massive contract.
