Mbappe Finally Silences Critics with Double Against Real Betis
Kylian Mbappe has ended his wait for a first La Liga goal in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Betis, and the 23-year-old is ecstatic about finally finding the back of the net.
In his first three games in Spain’s top flight, Mbappe had attracted a lot of criticism, with many doubting his ability to adapt to the league. But the French forward silenced his doubters with a superb double, showcasing his lightning-quick speed and clinical finishing.
"I had been hoping to score in this legendary stadium, which I consider the best in the world," Mbappe reflected. "I feel great here. I’ve said it since I arrived, I’m happy. The fans and everyone at the club have shown me a lot of affection, even when I wasn’t scoring."
Mbappe’s partnership with Vinicius Junior, another young star, has been under scrutiny, with some pundits suggesting the duo couldn’t play together. However, the Brazilian’s clever vision and delivery led to Mbappe’s second goal, a penalty that sealed the win.
"We are young and famous, it’s normal for people to talk about us," Mbappe said about his relationship with Vinicius. "The coach says that we both take penalties. I don’t want to force things, that’s not my mentality."
The French forward also dismissed claims that the pressure of becoming Madrid’s next Cristiano Ronaldo had weighed him down. While acknowledging Ronaldo as his idol, Mbappe stressed that he doesn’t feel pressured to follow in the Portuguese legend’s footsteps.
"Cristiano is my idol, yes. But no, I don’t want to follow anything. I don’t want that pressure. I want to be Kylian. I only have the pressure of having to adapt to the team," he explained.
As Real Madrid looks to maintain their title challenge, Mbappe’s confidence and goalscoring form will be crucial. And with Vinicius by his side, the French forward believes the duo can achieve great things.
"We have the potential to do something special," Mbappe said. "We’re young, we’re hungry, and we’re ready to work hard to achieve our goals."
