Kyle Walker’s Unlikely Summer Hobby That’s Got Everyone Talking
As the summer break begins, Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has been keeping himself busy with a surprising new hobby – Padel. Yes, you read that right! The former Spurs right-back has found a new passion in the hybrid of squash and tennis, and we can’t help but be intrigued.
Walker, who had a remarkable season with City, lifted the Premier League title for the sixth time and became the first City captain to lift the trophy. But, it seems that the 34-year-old is far from resting on his laurels. Speaking to BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, he shared his enthusiasm for Padel, saying: “I’ve actually got into Padel [over the summer]. I’ve been playing quite a bit of that down in a place that I’ve got in Wales. So that’s been me ticking over [in the summer]… There’s improvements to be made.”
So, what is Padel all about? Played in doubles on an enclosed court with glass panels and a wire mesh fence, it’s a brutal test of skill and fitness. Walker, it seems, has taken to the game like a fish to water, admitting that there’s still room for improvement.
It’s not just Walker who’s obsessed with Padel. The sport is becoming increasingly popular in the UK, with numerous courts popping up across the country. From beginners to pros, Padel’s a game that’s easy to pick up but hard to master. And, for Walker, it’s a welcome respite from the demands of professional football.
Of course, Walker’s still hungry for more success on the pitch. Under Pep Guardiola, City are looking to make it five Premier League titles in a row, a feat that would cement their status as one of the greatest teams in the world. And, with Walker at the helm, there’s no doubt that they’ve got the talent and determination to achieve their goal.
So, what’s next for Kyle Walker and Manchester City? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Follow us on all social media platforms for more updates!
