Juventus Clean Out: Eight First-Team Players Told They’re Free to Leave
Thiago Motta’s Juventus overhaul has taken a dramatic turn, with the Italian giants informing eight first-team players that they’re no longer wanted at the club. This summer’s transfer window is shaping up to be a wild ride, and the Old Lady is at the center of it all.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Motta and his team have told Federico Chiesa, Wojciech Szczesny, Weston McKennie, Mattia De Sciglio, Arthur Melo, Filip Kostic, Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia, and Daniele Rugani that they’re free to leave Turin. Chiesa, in particular, has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Motta’s decision to axe these players is part of a broader plan to revamp the squad and challenge Inter Milan’s dominance in Serie A. While some fans may be disappointed to see these players go, it’s clear that the new boss is willing to take bold steps to achieve his goals.
"We are convinced this is the best decision possible," Motta said in a recent interview. "Yes, Chiesa’s absence is related to the market. We made it clear after speaking with all the lads. We have strong players, accustomed to continuity. At this moment, the club is looking for solutions elsewhere, they must find them as soon as possible for everyone’s sake."
Motta has already sanctioned some arrivals this summer, with Douglas Luiz joining from Aston Villa and Khephren Thuram making the switch from Nice. The Old Lady will begin their Serie A campaign on August 19 with a mouthwatering home clash against newly-promoted side Como.
So, what’s next for Juventus? Will they be able to attract top talent to fill the void left by these departing players? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – the Bianconeri are in for a thrilling ride this season.
