Arne Slot’s Major Concern Over One of Jurgen Klopp’s Final Signings for Liverpool
Liverpool’s impressive start to the season has been built on the back of some solid performances from their players, but one man who’s been under the microscope is midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian international has shown flashes of brilliance, but his inconsistency has been a major concern for boss Arne Slot.
According to journalist James Pearce, Slot has been vocal about his desire to see more from Szoboszlai in the final third. "Slot spoke recently about how he felt that Szoboszlai needed to contribute more in the final third, I think quite rightly, made the point that for an attacking midfielder, what was it, three Premier League goals last season?" Pearce said on the Walk On podcast.
Those numbers are indeed underwhelming, especially considering the attacking talent at Liverpool’s disposal. Szoboszlai’s lack of productivity has been a major talking point among fans and pundits alike, with many questioning whether he’s good enough to start for the Reds.
Despite this, Slot has shown faith in the 23-year-old, deploying him in a more advanced ‘number 10’ role in recent weeks. Szoboszlai’s goal in the Champions League win over AC Milan was a highlight, but his Premier League form has been less impressive.
The Hungarian is likely to start against Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Federico Chiesa set to miss out after missing training. Andrew Robertson is also expected to return from injury, while Darwin Nunez may feature after recovering from illness.
Liverpool fans will be hoping to see more from Szoboszlai as the season progresses. Can he step up and become a key player for the Reds, or will his inconsistency continue to be a major concern?
