Jermaine Jenas Opens Up About Sacking and Family Life After Shocking BBC Exit
Jermaine Jenas has given a candid interview about his recent sacking from the BBC, revealing the impact it has had on his family life, including a surprising mention about his dog.
The former Tottenham midfielder was abruptly terminated from his BBC contract with immediate effect due to "alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour". Jenas initially refused to comment on the allegations, citing legal advice, but has since come forward to address the matter.
In a lengthy interview with The Sun, Jenas admitted to sending "inappropriate messages" to two female BBC colleagues, but insisted that they were consensual and did not involve the sharing of sexual content.
The ex-England international also apologized to the women and his family, acknowledging that he has a "self-destructive streak" and has booked into therapy to work through his issues.
Jenas’s wife, Ellie, has been left "raging" since he informed her of the circumstances behind his sacking, while their 16-year-old and 11-year-old children have been struggling to understand the situation.
"I’ve let everyone down. When you’ve got kids, man. Even my dog looked at me disappointed," Jenas said, revealing the emotional toll of his mistakes.
Despite the challenges he’s facing, Jenas remains hopeful that the therapy will help him become a better person and father.
"There are certain moments where I’m doing certain things where it’s just a complete, almost like a blackout of what I’m doing, and I can’t be behaving like that. I can’t be taking so many risks with my own life, essentially," he said.
Aside from his BBC work, Jenas also works as a pundit for TNT Sports on their football and Formula E coverage. It’s unclear at this stage whether he will be invited back to the BBC in the future.
In the meantime, Jenas will focus on rebuilding his personal life and making a positive impact on those around him.
