Jamie Carragher Reacts to Mo Salah’s Liverpool Future Claim – And Fans Have a Theory
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has shared his thoughts on Mohamed Salah’s bombshell claim about his future at the club, and fans are buzzing with a theory.
Salah was in scintillating form as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, grabbing two assists before netting a tidy finish in the second half.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Salah dropped a huge hint about his Liverpool future, leaving fans and pundits alike scratching their heads. Carragher, however, doesn’t think the Egyptian superstar is leaving Anfield anytime soon.
"I think Mo Salah has gone public to put pressure on the club," Carragher told the media. "He’s still the best player in his position in the world by an absolute mile. He can play until he’s 40, him. Ridiculous footballer."
But what’s behind Salah’s sudden declaration? Fans are speculating that the 32-year-old is trying to force the club’s hand into securing his future at Anfield. "Get that contract sorted ASAP," tweeted @LBLFC_. "He’s still the best player in his position in the world by an absolute mile. He can play until he’s 40 him. Ridiculous footballer."
Carragher also believes that new signing Federico Chiesa is a "great addition" to the Liverpool squad, providing genuine quality to replace Salah when he’s rested or injured. "Chiesa, more often than not, is playing from that side, so I think it is a great addition," he said.
With the likes of Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo competing for places in the Liverpool attack, it’s clear that the Reds have a healthy competition for spots. But will Salah’s comments spark a contract extension or a move away from Anfield?
