Jamie Carragher couldn’t resist aiming dig at Gary Neville after Erik ten Hag outburst

Carragher Takes a Dig at Neville’s United Prediction After Spurs Thrashing

Gary Neville’s optimism about Manchester United’s season has been well and truly shattered after their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. And Jamie Carragher was quick to rub salt in the wounds, reminding his fellow pundit of his pre-season prediction that United would finish third.

In August, Neville predicted that United would finish third, behind Arsenal and Manchester City. But after their latest loss, it’s safe to say that those hopes are looking increasingly distant. United have struggled for form, picking up just two wins in their opening six league games.

Carragher took to Twitter to remind Neville of his prediction, retweeting a graphic that showed Neville’s prediction and adding a wry comment: "You put them third at the start of the season!!"

But Neville wasn’t the only one who got it wrong. Carragher himself predicted that United would finish in the top four, alongside Arsenal, Spurs, and Liverpool. However, it’s looking increasingly likely that United will struggle to even finish in the top half of the table.

So, what went wrong for United? Neville had some harsh words for the team’s application, saying that their effort was "abysmal" and that they didn’t seem to believe in Erik ten Hag’s plans. He also pointed out that even Christian Eriksen, a player respected by his teammates and manager, questioned the motivation and attitude of the players.

It’s clear that United have a lot of work to do if they want to turn their season around. But for now, it’s hard to see them challenging for a top-four spot.
