Sancho Shines Again as Chelsea’s Wideman EQUALS Record Set at Manchester United
After a rough patch at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho is making waves once more – this time, with Chelsea. The former Red Devils winger has continued his impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge, bagging another assist in their 3-0 thrashing of West Ham on Saturday. And, impressively, he achieved it in half the time it took him to do the same with United.
Chelsea’s convincing win was courtesy of a Nicolas Jackson double and a Cole Palmer goal, but Sancho stole the show with his classy assist. The England international teed up Jackson for the opening goal with a precision pass down the left flank, allowing the Senegalese striker to race clear and slot it past Alphonse Areola.
This marks the second game in a row where Sancho has registered an assist, following on from his set-up for Christopher Nkunku’s winner at Bournemouth last weekend. Interestingly, this was a tally he took far longer to achieve during his time at United, needing seven months to get off the mark. Sancho’s first two assists came in a match against Leeds United in February 2022, while his third arrived just three games later against Tottenham. Unfortunately for the winger, a series of injuries curtailed his debut season with United, and he failed to live up to his initial hype.
However, it’s clear that Sancho is thriving under Thomas Tuchel’s tutelage, and his creativity is bringing a new dynamic to Chelsea’s attack. His absence from the pitch was sorely felt under Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, but the winger has already made an immediate impact in his new role.
Chelsea’s victory sends them fifth in the Premier League standings, just one point adrift of a Champions League spot. They’ll be looking to continue their strong form as they face an upcoming clash against Liverpool on Saturday.
