Ivan Toney set to make Saudi debut against Cristiano Ronaldo TONIGHT

Ivan Toney Set to Make Al-Ahli Debut Tonight

English striker Ivan Toney is all set to make his debut for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli tonight, just days after completing a £40 million transfer from Brentford. The 28-year-old was forced to wait due to the international break, but manager Matthias Jaissle has been impressed with Toney’s fitness and form in training, and he’s expected to start against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

Toney’s first game in front of the home crowd at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium will come on September 20 against Damac FC. The Englishman has joined a host of big names from European football at Al-Ahli, including Premier League title winners Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino, as well as Champions League winner Edouard Mendy.

The deal sees Toney pocket around £403,000 a week, which is less than half the weekly sum earned by ex-Manchester City and Leicester winger Mahrez on £850,000 a week. The squad also includes Franck Kessie, Gabri Veiga, Roger Ibanez, and Merih Demiral.

Al-Ahli won their first league game of the season before losing their second, while Al-Nassr drew their first and won their second. The team’s home advantage will come at Al-Awwal Park, and the game kicks off at 7pm UK time tonight.
