South African veteran batsman Faf du Plessis thanked everyone associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise after his journey with the team came to an end. Faf du Plessis was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 7 crore on day 1 of the ongoing IPL auction. Du Plessis, who joined CSK in 2011, has played every season with the team since then, except for two seasons in which CSK was kicked out of the IPL in 2016 and 2017.
“I just want to say thank you to Chennai, the fans, the staff, the management and the players for what has been a decade with a team. You created a lot of special memories. I think it’s very important for me to say thank you. I really enjoyed my time. I will miss everyone there,” Du Plessis said in a video posted by CSK on its official Twitter account.

Du Plessis will now join Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell at RCB for the upcoming IPL season.
After being acquired by RCB, Du Plessis said he is excited about the new ride.
“But when one door closes, a new one opens and that brings great opportunities. I’m excited to see what the future holds. From me and my family, thank you very much,” he added.
RCB has also signed the likes of Australian pacemaker Josh Hazlewood, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel, among others.
RCB had retained three players, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj, before the IPL auction.
