Inter Miami’s Stadium Shift: Club Pushes Back Move to New Digs Until 2026

Inter Miami CF Pushes Back Miami Freedom Park Opening to 2026

Inter Miami CF fans are in for a disappointment as the team has announced that they will continue to play at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the 2025 MLS season. The club had previously promised to move to the new Miami Freedom Park stadium by 2025, but it seems that the project is taking longer than expected.

According to emails sent to season ticket holders, the 2025 season will be the "final season" at Chase Stadium before the team makes the move to Miami Freedom Park. Season ticket holders who choose to renew their membership will get priority access to the inaugural season at the new stadium.

This news has not gone down well with some fans, who are already dealing with a second price increase to season tickets since the arrival of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi in the summer of 2023. The delay in the opening of Miami Freedom Park has added to their frustration.

One season ticket holder, Morgan Guigon, told ESPN that he has chosen not to renew his membership this year due to the price increase and the delay in the stadium move. "I’m choosing not to renew this year after over a 150% increase in ticket prices in the past 2 years and since the arrival of Messi… it’s cheaper to buy tickets on the resale market match by match than it is to buy season tickets directly from the club," he said.

Messi’s future at the club is also uncertain, as his original contract with Inter Miami CF expires at the end of 2025. It remains to be seen whether he will extend his stay in South Florida or move on to another team.

Construction on Miami Freedom Park began in August 2023, with the target of opening the 25,000-seat stadium by 2025. However, it seems that the project is taking longer than expected, and the team will now play at Chase Stadium for at least one more season.

As Inter Miami CF continues to top the MLS Supporters’ Shied standings, fans will have to wait a little longer to experience the excitement of the new stadium. But for now, they’ll have to make do with the current facilities.
