Diogo Jota’s Crucial Role in Liverpool’s Success
Diogo Jota’s career at Liverpool has been a mixed bag, with the Portuguese star struggling to stay fit and often missing crucial games. However, when he’s on the pitch, Jota is a force to be reckoned with, and he’s looking to make a big impact in the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old forward joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 and has since developed into the Reds’ most lethal finisher. Despite his injury issues, Jota has consistently produced impressive numbers, with 15 goals and four assists in 32 games last season.
In an interview with The Athletic, Jota acknowledged the importance of staying fit and ready to make an impact. "When you know you’re injured and you’re going to be out for a while, it’s like a knockout," he said. "But you need to get up again. You need to get ready to be able to run again. We’re playing in the best competitions in the world, so it’s not so easy to get into form and make the difference. But I did that last season every single time I was on the pitch."
Jota’s availability for the opening game of the season against Ipswich Town is a major boost for Liverpool, and he’ll be looking to make a statement and cement his starting spot. With the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo also vying for a place in the starting lineup, Jota knows he needs to be at his best to secure a regular spot.
