Cristiano Ronaldo’s prediction on Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe seems to be coming true. When the French superstar joined the Spanish giants in the summer, Ronaldo said he would wait to see if Real Madrid would be ‘better than last season’, when they won the Champions League.
Now, with Mbappe struggling for form – he has missed penalties twice in crucial situations this week – and Real Madrid having endured an indifferent season domestically and in Europe, the video where Ronaldo made his prediction , has appeared again.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: “Let’s see if his mind is clear and good and if he can deal with the pressure because Real Madrid are not PSG. I can tell you, with Mbappé going there, I think Madrid will be strong but I don’t know if they will be better than last season. Let’s see.”
Indeed, handling Real’s demands appears to be a difficult task for Mbappe, who has spent the bulk of his career at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe was in the headlines this week after missing a penalty as Athletic Bilbao beat Real in La Liga. It was his second penalty miss in a week after failing to convert a penalty against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Real have also had an average season. They are chasing Barcelona in La Liga and in the Champions League, they have lost three of their five games so far
