David Babunski: The Macedonian Magician Who’s Already Causing a Stir at Dundee United
Jim Goodwin’s delight is evident as he welcomed midfielder David Babunski to Dundee United this week. The Macedonian midfielder made his debut for the Scottish Premiership side against Stenhousemuir, just a week after joining from Hungarian club Mezokovesdi Sport Egyesulet. What’s more impressive is that Goodwin had previously attempted to sign Babunski during his time at Aberdeen, only to see his deal fall through.
Second Time Lucky for Goodwin and Babunski
Goodwin revealed that he’s known Babunski for about three years now, thanks to his extensive network of contacts in eastern Europe. In fact, Aberdeen had a good relationship with the region, signing players like Bojan Miovski and Ylber Ramadani in the past. Babunski, who spent his youth days at Barcelona’s renowned academy, was one player Goodwin had tried to lure to Pittodrie before. But this time, the former North Macedonia international is putting his technical skills to good use in the Scottish top flight.
What Makes Babunski Special
Goodwin is thrilled to have finally landed his long-term target. The 30-year-old’s educational background at Barcelona means he’s had the privilege of rubbing shoulders with some of the game’s best players. He even shared a picture of himself with Lionel Messi on the training pitch! With Babunski’s calming influence on the pitch, Goodwin believes the midfielder will bring a new level of class to United’s midfield.
