Gary Neville thinks senior Man Utd player made ‘the most worrying comments’ ahead of Spurs game and it speaks volumes

Gary Neville Slams Manchester United’s Performance, Questions Christian Eriksen’s Comments

Gary Neville was left fuming after Manchester United’s lackluster performance against Tottenham, and he didn’t hold back in his post-match analysis. The former Red Devil defender was particularly concerned by Christian Eriksen’s comments after the team’s 1-1 draw against FC Twente in the Europa League.

Eriksen’s brutal honesty was refreshing, but Neville believes it’s not enough to simply acknowledge the problem. "The most worrying thing was, and maybe I didn’t pay enough attention to it on Wednesday night, was Eriksen’s comments around the fact that he felt that FC Twente wanted it more, that they were more hungry," Neville said on his podcast.

"That is a player that is in the middle of that dressing room I would suggest is very well-respected by the rest of his colleagues and very well-respected by the manager. He is an experienced player who has played hundreds and hundreds of games at the highest level. And he is questioning the motivation and the attitude of his players."

Neville was scathing in his assessment of United’s performance against Spurs, calling it "absolutely disgusting" and one of the worst under Erik ten Hag. He believes the team’s lack of hunger and motivation is a major concern, and that Eriksen’s comments only scratch the surface of the problem.

"I said just before the game that there can be no excuses. A mountain of cash has been spent and invested. The first half was absolutely woeful, as bad as it gets," Neville said. "The pressure is going to get ramped up this week – it is going to be brutal. It has been a bad day for Ten Hag, really bad. It’s one of the worst performances I have seen under Ten Hag – and that is saying something. It is really bad."

As Manchester United look to bounce back from this disappointing result, it’s clear that they have a lot of work to do to regain the confidence and motivation of their players. Will they be able to turn things around, or will this season be a write-off? Only time will tell.
