The Manchester United legend has been quick to poke fun at Liverpool’s loss to Nottingham Forest, labeling it "oh dear beautiful weekend."
Gary Neville’s Instagram post read: "Well, what a football weekend! United win, Salford win, and the big one, Liverpool lose! Oh dear beautiful weekend!"
The Man Utd legend’s sassy swipe comes after Liverpool suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, their first loss under new manager Arne Slot.
Forest’s winger Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the winner in the 66th minute, leaving Liverpool stunned and Liverpool fans reeling.
Post-match, Slot admitted it wasn’t good enough and that individual performances in ball possession were not up to standard.
Neville’s cheeky remark about Liverpool’s loss is certainly music to the ears of Manchester United fans, given the Red Devils’ thrashing of Southampton earlier that day.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and an early penalty save from Andre Onana gave United a convincing 3-0 win over the Saints.
Meanwhile, Salford City, co-owned by Neville and his teammates, also picked up three points, defeating Cheltenham Town 2-1 in League Two.
Hakeed Adelakun’s equaliser and winner sealed the victory for Salford, who have now won two of their four matches this season.
