Gary Neville Lands New Job Ahead of Premier League Return
In a surprise move, former Manchester United star Gary Neville has landed a new job, just hours before the new Premier League season kicks off. The 49-year-old will be combining his duties as a lead co-commentator and pundit for Sky Sports with a new role at NBC Sports, the American channel.
Neville will make his debut on Friday night, joining the ‘Premier League Live’ show and then continuing to appear on Sundays. He’ll be linking up with former United teammate Tim Howard, who he played alongside on 52 occasions.
The eight-time Premier League winner has been a staple of Sky Sports’ coverage for over a decade, and his new role at NBC Sports marks a significant expansion of his broadcasting portfolio. Neville has been involved in many memorable moments in the studio and gantry, and his addition to NBC Sports’ team is likely to bring a new level of expertise and enthusiasm to their coverage.
A Golden Rule
In a recent episode of his popular podcast, ‘Stick to Football’, Neville spoke about his approach to punditry, revealing that he has a "golden rule" when it comes to criticizing managers. He refuses to call for a manager to be sacked, a stance that has earned him respect from many in the football community.
"I’ve never said it and I’m quite proud of that," Neville said. "Some do and feel comfortable with it, but I’ve never said it and I’m quite proud of that."
