Fantasy Premier League: The Players Who’ve Already Joined the Party
As the new Premier League season kicks off, we’re getting a glimpse into the minds of some of the top flight’s biggest stars. A website dedicated to all things Fantasy Premier League, FPL.page, has been digging deep to uncover which players have already set up their own teams for the season.
Andy Robertson’s Winning Team
Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson is flying high after scoring 81 points in Gameweek 1. He’s built a solid back four with Pedro Porro, Josko Gvardiol, and William Saliba, and has also included teammates Diogo Jota, Phil Foden, Alejandro Garnacho, Dominic Solanke, and Ollie Watkins. Not surprisingly, he chose to captain his teammate Mohamed Salah, who scored 28 points in their clash against Ipswich Town.
Salah’s Impressive Performance
Salah, meanwhile, picked up a respectable 80 points after captaining himself. He also included teammates Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota, as well as Spurs pair James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, who scored a combined six points.
Who Else Has Joined the FPL Ranks?
As you can see from the lengthy list on FPL.page, a decent amount of Premier League players have made an account so far. Kieran Trippier, who calls his squad ‘Trip FC’, is currently 941,734 in the world after picking up 73 points. Trent Alexander-Arnold, John McGinn, Matt Targett, and Antoine Semenyo are also getting involved.
It’s Not Just Premier League Players
AS Roma pair Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling have created an FPL team for the season ahead, with Abraham captaining Salah and Smalling giving the armband to Alexander Isak.
Ange Postecoglou’s Fantasy Faux Pas
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, however, won’t be playing Fantasy Premier League any time soon. In a press conference ahead of last season’s game against Brentford, he revealed that he’s had to pull out of his fantasy league group, saying, "I don’t need to play now because I am a Premier League manager. There you go, it’s not a fantasy anymore!"
