In a recent interview with Germany’s Rheinische Post, current Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper and former Manchester United youth teammate Matej Kovar seemed to hint at a potential desire to return to Old Trafford in the not-too-distant future.
Kovar, 23, gained valuable experience during his five-year stint as a United youth player, making trips to Swindon Town on loan and featuring for Germany’s Sparta Prague en route to establishing himself a starter for Leverkusen as they won the Bundesliga title through an undefeated season.
As pointed out by various pundits this season, United’s goalkeeper situation – with David de Gea departing just last year and reserve keeper Luke Shaw struggling for form off the pitch – appears ripe for a shake-up.
