Victor Moses’ Surprise Return to English Football with Luton Town
Former Chelsea star Victor Moses has made a stunning comeback to English football, joining Luton Town on a permanent deal. The 33-year-old Nigerian international, who was without a club after leaving Spartak Moscow in Russia earlier this year, has signed with the Hatters and donned the iconic No. 7 shirt.
Moses, who boasts a wealth of top-flight experience, has won the Europa League twice, including a victorious campaign with Chelsea in 2013. After spending the past few seasons playing in Russia, he has now set his sights on helping Luton Town regain their Premier League status.
The former Liverpool academy product, who has featured 38 times for the Super Eagles, initially joined the Hatters as a trialist before impressing in a behind-closed-doors match last week. Speaking to the club’s media team, Moses expressed his excitement about his new venture: "I had a few offers from Europe, but I said to my agent that I set my mind on staying over here, and here we are. I’m very pleased and honoured to be at this club, and I just can’t wait to get going."
Manager Rob Edwards is thrilled to have secured the services of the experienced forward, who offers added depth and versatility to his squad. "Victor is one we’ve been talking to for quite a while," Edwards said. "He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game, and we made a decision because we think he’s able to come in and help us."
Luton Town finished 18th in the Premier League last season, which means they’ll be fighting to avoid relegation again this term. Moses is eager to help his new teammates achieve their goal. "I want to come here and enjoy my football, work hard for the club and for the team, and get back to where we belong in the Premier League."
