Forgotten Chelsea player ‘banished’ from training by Mauricio Pochettino terminates contract and joins new club

Chelsea’s Forgotten Defender Finally Finds Exit Route

In a move that’s been a long time coming, Chelsea’s forgotten defender Malang Sarr has finally terminated his contract with the club and is set to join French side RC Lens. The 25-year-old has been stuck at Stamford Bridge for over two years, making just eight Premier League appearances during that time.

Sarr’s last appearance for the Blues was in a 2-1 win over Watford in May 2022, and it’s been a struggle for him to get regular game time under Thomas Tuchel. Despite being a talented young defender, Sarr has been stuck in limbo, unable to secure a consistent spot in the Chelsea lineup.

The Frenchman’s situation became even more complicated when he was loaned out to Monaco for the 2022/23 campaign, only to spend the entire season training with the under-21s. It’s been a tough road for Sarr, and it’s no surprise that he’s finally decided to cut his losses and move on.

According to reports, Sarr will join RC Lens pending the completion of a medical. The French side finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season and will play in the Europa Conference League this term. Lens are managed by Will Still, and Sarr will be looking to get his career back on track under his guidance.

This move marks the end of an era for Sarr at Chelsea, who signed a five-year contract with the club in 2020. Despite his struggles, Sarr has shown flashes of brilliance on the pitch, and it’s hoped that he’ll be able to find his form again at Lens.
