Manchester United’s Debutant Duo Shine in Impressive Win
Manchester United’s new-look squad took to the pitch with a sense of urgency, and it was debutant Joshua Zirkzee who stole the show in their opening game of the season. The Dutch forward made a huge impact off the bench, scoring the winner and proving he’s a player to watch.
Erik ten Hag’s side got their season off to a flyer, with their new signings showing what they’re capable of. Zirkzee, who came on for Mason Mount in the 60th minute, was the spark that United needed. He may not have had many touches, but he made the most of his opportunities, providing the assist for the winner and showcasing his clinical finishing.
Onana was solid in goal, making a crucial early tip-over from Kenny Tete. Mazraoui, on the other hand, impressed with his assured performances at the back and in midfield. De Ligt and Maguire formed a strong partnership, with the latter producing a crucial tackle to deny a breakaway goal.
Casemiro was a creative force in midfield, spraying passes around and providing chances for his teammates. Kobbie Mainoo was another standout, impressing with his crisp passing and tidy movement. However, it was Zirkzee who stole the show, providing the moment of brilliance that secured the win.
Mason Mount and Amad Diallo struggled to make an impact, but there were promising signs from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes. Alejandro Garnacho added a spark when he came on, teeing up Zirkzee for the winner.
United’s squad depth is beginning to look formidable, and Erik ten Hag will be delighted with the way his team performed. As for Zirkzee, he’s clearly a player who can make a big difference off the bench.
