Chelsea Star Marc Guiu’s Miss of the Season in Europa Conference League Clash
Marc Guiu’s Chelsea debut took a dramatic turn for the worse on Thursday as he produced a howler of a miss in their Europa Conference League clash against Servette. The striker, who joined the Blues from Barcelona this summer, won’t want to see this one back.
Guiu, who featured for his new club in their Premier League opener against Manchester City, was handed more minutes by Enzo Maresca in the first leg of their play-off against Servette. However, an open-goal miss was one of his more forgettable moments at Stamford Bridge.
The striker’s blunder came as Chelsea were dominating the game, with Tosin Adarabioyo and Filip Jorgensen playing their first games for the club. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Pedro Neto, Renato Veiga, and Guiu all made their full Chelsea debuts, but Guiu’s miss will be one that he’ll want to put behind him.
Chelsea made nine changes to their team for the first leg, with Maresca looking to rotate his squad ahead of the new season. Despite the changes, the Blues still looked strong, with Guiu’s miss being a rare moment of poor form.
