Warning: Don’t Get Burned! Expert Hacker Reveals the Dark Side of Illegal Football Streaming
The new football season is just around the corner, and with it comes the age-old problem of illegal streaming. In a bid to save a few quid, fans are tempted to resort to illicit methods to watch their favourite teams play. But, as expert hacker Jenny Radcliffe warns, the risks involved are far greater than just a possible ban from the club.
In recent years, the Premier League has cracked down on fans who illegally stream matches through IPTV services. Last May, a man was jailed for making over £1 million from selling Fire Sticks to watch Premier League football matches. The investigation revealed he had 1,000 customers! And, in February, a 42-year-old man from Sutton Coldfield was sentenced to 12 months in prison for copyright crimes between 2017 and 2021.
So, what’s the big deal? Radcliffe reveals that these illegal streaming sites are breeding grounds for malicious links, backdoors, and tricks to access your digital and financial information. This means that anyone who engages in these activities is essentially inviting professional fraudsters to steal from them.
"We’ve seen cases where victims have been hit with multiple charges to their credit cards, malware installed on their devices, bank accounts accessed, and even personal information like emails, messages, contacts, photographs, documents, and browsing history stolen," Radcliffe warned.
The Fraud Act 2006 is clear: it’s illegal to watch TV or streaming services without paying the required fee. But, Radcliffe believes that many fans are unaware of the risks involved and the devastating consequences that can follow.
