Spain’s Euro 2024 Squad to Receive Hefty Bonuses if They Beat England in the Final
Spain’s 26-man squad is set to receive a massive bonus if they can overcome England in the Euro 2024 final. According to reports, every member of the squad will receive a whopping €400,000 (approximately £336,000) if they emerge victorious on Sunday.
This is not the only incentive for the Spanish players, as they have been in scintillating form throughout the tournament. They have recorded convincing wins over Croatia, Italy, Albania, Georgia, Germany, and France, and are looking to make it a record fourth Euros title.
The bonus pot is part of a pre-tournament agreement between UEFA and the Spanish Football Federation. The agreement states that the winners of Euro 2024 will receive a maximum bonus of €28.25 million (£24.2m), with 30% of that sum going to the 26-man squad. However, if Spain wins the tournament, the percentage will increase to 40%, meaning the squad will receive a total of €11.3 million (£9.7m).
For England, the situation is slightly different. According to reports, the players will receive a bonus pot worth up to £10 million if they win the tournament. However, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that the players are not too concerned about the financial incentives, with many considering it a "low priority".
Southgate himself is focused on leading his team to victory, stating that he wants to bring "temporary happiness" to an "angry country". He added that he can handle whatever comes after the game, including the reaction of his family.
The stage is set for a thrilling final between two of Europe’s top teams. Will Spain’s unbeaten run continue, or can England cause an upset and lift the trophy? One thing is certain – the winner will be walking away with a significant bonus.
