Erling Haaland was forced to take part in brutal training exercise by his dad ahead of pre-season

Erling Haaland’s Brutal Pre-Season Training: Pep’s Men Ready for Stateside Showdown

Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States is just around the corner, and Erling Haaland has been putting in the hard yards to ensure he’s in top shape for the challenge. The Norwegian striker, who enjoyed a well-deserved break after winning the Premier League title and Golden Boot, has been pushing himself to the limit under the watchful eye of his father, Alf-Inge.

In a recent video posted on City’s social media channels, Haaland revealed that his dad forced him to take part in a brutal training exercise, chopping wood in the mountains and living up to his Viking nickname. The old-school approach has echoes of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky IV, and it’s clear that Haaland is a man who thrives under pressure.

Haaland’s pre-season preparations have been anything but relaxing. After partying in Marbella and heading back on two separate occasions after using a yacht, the 23-year-old spent time in Capri and Paris before finishing off in his homeland. However, it was there where he was spotted meditating topless in a river, enjoying the great outdoors.

But Haaland’s father had other plans for him. The former Manchester City player, who is known for his tough love approach, put his son through a grueling training session, chopping wood in the mountains. Haaland confirmed that he didn’t have a choice, saying, "My father forced me!"

Haaland’s intense training regime has been a far cry from his summer of fun in the sun. He’s been back in training with City on Monday, along with the rest of the players who didn’t have international duty commitments. The team has since jetted off to the United States for a tour that will see them take on Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.

City’s first game is against Celtic at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in North Carolina on July 24. They’ll then face AC Milan at the famous Yankee Stadium on July 27, before Pep Guardiola has a reunion with Barcelona on July 31. The tour wraps up on August 3 against Chelsea, a week prior to the Community Shield against Manchester United at Wembley.
