Ten Hag Under Fire for Man Utd’s Disappointing Draw with Twente
Manchester United’s underwhelming performance in their Europa League draw with Twente has drawn widespread criticism, with some even questioning Erik ten Hag’s tactics. The Dutch coach has been slammed for his handling of Alejandro Garnacho, who was introduced in the 67th minute but failed to inspire the Red Devils to a victory.
According to former Netherlands international Ruud Gullit, Ten Hag’s constant communication with Garnacho during the game only served to distract the winger. "I saw Erik ten Hag talking to Garnacho all the time," Gullit said. "The only thing a player is thinking during a moment like that is: ‘Dude, leave me alone’."
The 1-1 draw marks back-to-back disappointing results for Manchester United, who have now failed to win in their last three matches across all competitions. Ten Hag himself acknowledged his side’s poor second-half showing, stating that they "dropped the level" and gave away the equalizing goal.
"Manchester United’s football was, unfortunately, not surprising," Gullit added, in a scathing critique of the team’s performance. "We’re used to it by now… How many millions did Erik ten Hag invest in his team again?"
The Red Devils’ struggles have left fans and pundits alike questioning the coach’s ability to improve the team’s fortunes. Manchester United will look to bounce back from this draw when they host Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
