Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia on the Cusp of Return to First-Team Action
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the recovery of left-back Tyrell Malacia, who’s been sidelined with a knee injury since undergoing surgery last summer. The good news is that Malacia is making steady progress and is expected to return to full training in October.
Malacia’s recovery hit a few bumps along the way, but he’s now in a good place and is doing everything he can to regain full fitness. Ten Hag believes that the full-back can return to action in just two months, which would be a huge boost for the Red Devils.
The absence of Malacia has allowed other left-backs to step up, including academy product Harry Amass. The 17-year-old has impressed in pre-season, and his display in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Real Betis has generated plenty of buzz. Amass’s assured performance has fans calling for him to get more game time in the coming months.
In an interview with GOAL, Luke Shaw had nothing but praise for Amass, stating that he’s a young left-back from Manchester United who fans should keep an eye on. With Shaw’s backing, Amass is definitely one to watch out for.
While Malacia’s return to fitness is welcome news, it’s likely that United will still look to bring in additional left-back options to provide competition and depth. However, with Amass pushing hard for a first-team spot, United fans can be excited about the talent coming through the ranks.
