Man United Suffers Double Injury Blow Ahead of New Season
Manchester United’s preparations for the new season have been hit by a double injury blow, with Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund both forced off the pitch during their friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles.
Hojlund, who scored the opening goal for United, was withdrawn in the 16th minute with an apparent muscle injury. When asked about the extent of the injury, Hojlund played it down, saying "we’ll see" how serious it is.
Yoro, who signed from Lille for £52 million, was forced off just after the half-hour mark and looked to be in some discomfort after receiving lengthy treatment. The 18-year-old defender impressed on his United debut against Rangers and has been tipped to become a key player for the Red Devils.
United boss Erik ten Hag was coy about the extent of the injuries, saying "of course it is too short [to know about their injuries] and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more." He added that the club will be "positive and see what comes out" when asked about Yoro’s fitness.
The double injury blow is a significant setback for United, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season last year. With the Premier League season just around the corner, the club will be hoping that both players make a full recovery in time for the opener.
United will now travel to the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego for a meeting with Real Betis on Thursday before taking on Liverpool in South Carolina next weekend.
