Erik Ten Hag Makes Shock U-Turn on Manchester United Star Linked to Saudi Pro League
Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League season opener has thrown a wrench into Erik ten Hag’s plans for the club’s midfield. One player, in particular, has caught the Dutch manager’s eye – Casemiro.
The Brazilian midfielder has been heavily linked to a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al Nassr reportedly willing to pay as much as £85 million for his services. However, following Casemiro’s impressive performance against Fulham, Ten Hag may reconsider selling the 32-year-old this summer.
Casemiro controlled sections of the match from midfield, playing a crucial role in the winning goal. Ten Hag praised the midfielder, saying: "In that midfield department, he was very important in and out of possession, organising with smart solutions. This is the Casemiro we all enjoy."
Speaking to Sky Sports, Casemiro himself expressed his happiness at Old Trafford, saying: "I feel very well, very well. I feel healthy, with energy and the same mentality I always had. I’m well, I’m happy, living every day I get to play here. As I usually say, Manchester United gave me what I wanted."
The comments are a significant shift from Casemiro’s previous statements, which seemed to suggest he was ready to move on from the club. His performance against Fulham has likely changed Ten Hag’s mind, and the Dutch manager may now consider keeping the midfielder as a first-team option for the season.
Manchester United have been busy in the transfer window, signing four new players, including Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs De Ligt. The club has also bid farewell to several players from previous seasons, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Anthony Martial, and Raphael Varane.
For now, it seems that Casemiro’s future at Manchester United is secure, at least for the time being. The club will likely continue to assess their midfield options and may yet make further signings before the transfer window closes.
