Erik ten Hag admits key role has been ‘taken away’ from him since Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover at Man Utd

Manchester United’s Summer Transfer Window: A New Era Under INEOS

Manchester United have made a flying start to the summer transfer window, and it’s all thanks to the new structure put in place by INEOS. The takeover of the Old Trafford club has brought about a fresh wave of excitement, and Erik ten Hag is loving every minute of it.

With Omar Berrada as the new chief executive, Jason Wilcox as technical director, and Dan Ashworth as sporting director, the club has a new-look team in place. And it’s already paying dividends. Two new signings have been unveiled, with Joshua Zirkzee joining from Bologna for £36.5m and Leny Yoro, the 18-year-old defender, arriving from Lille for £52.2m.

But it’s not just about the incomings. United have also been busy offloading players to raise funds for their new signings. Alvaro Fernandez has joined Benfica for £7.5m, Donny van de Beek is on his way to Girona for a potential £7.6m, Willy Kambwala is heading to Villarreal for almost £10m, and Mason Greenwood has made the switch to Marseille for £26.6m.

Ten Hag has spoken about the new structure, revealing that certain aspects of his job have been taken away from him. But he’s not complaining. In fact, he’s embracing the change, saying it allows him to focus on what he does best – managing the team.

"It’s early days, but the signs are very good," Ten Hag said in an interview with AD. "We have only been working with these new people for a few weeks, but Ashworth is close by – a room away. The new owners take me more into the process."

It’s clear that the new structure is working, and United fans are excited to see what the rest of the summer transfer window has in store. With the window closing on August 30, there’s still plenty of time for Ten Hag and his team to make some more big moves.
