Enzo Maresca ‘loses patience’ with Chelsea player during Servette game after ‘looking lost out of possession’

Maresca’s Patience Wears Thin as Chelsea’s Mudryk Struggles Again

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was left exasperated during Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash against Servette, with Mykhailo Mudryk’s struggles in possession finally getting to him.

The Blues boss was spotted rolling his eyes in frustration as Mudryk misfired again, with the Ukraine international’s indecisiveness and lack of composure in possession leaving his coach looking bemused.

According to reporter Ryan Taylor, Maresca was "losing patience" with Mudryk, who was being coached through the game but looked lost out of possession. The £88.5 million signing from Shakhtar Donetsk has struggled to find his footing at Stamford Bridge, with many tipping Maresca to get the best out of him.

The stats back up Mudryk’s struggles, with the winger failing to make a significant impact in his first few weeks in the Premier League. However, it’s not all doom and gloom, with experts like Alan Shearer and Micah Richards believing there’s plenty of talent to work with.

"It’s been very difficult for him at Chelsea, but I look at him and there’s something there," Shearer said on The Rest is Football podcast. "He needs a lot of work, but he’s definitely got something."

Richards echoed Shearer’s sentiments, stating that Mudryk needs a manager to believe in him and a run of games to build up his confidence. "Wingers are like that aren’t they? They need that confidence to really kick on," he added.

Maresca will be hoping to see an improvement from Mudryk in the coming weeks, but for now, it’s clear that the Italian coach is growing increasingly frustrated with his winger’s struggles.
