Ederson Breaks Silence on Stefan Ortega Praise Claims
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has finally spoken out about the recent claims that he’s been affected by the praise given to his teammate Stefan Ortega. The Brazilian shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium, with Saudi Professional League club Al Ittihad reportedly interested in signing him.
According to a recent article by Sam Lee of The Athletic, Ederson was said to be affected by the praise for Ortega, who made a huge save in City’s run to another Premier League title. However, Ederson’s wife Lais Moraes took to social media to rubbish those claims, and now Ederson himself has broken his silence on the matter.
Posting on his Instagram story, Ederson wrote: "Clarifying that the note published by The Athletic yesterday refers to whether my alleged dissatisfaction with a colleague. It is completely false, The supposed reported day was without a doubt, one of the hardest days of my career, when I suffered a fracture that prevented me from playing in the final stretch of the season and consequently representing my country in Copa America."
Ederson went on to explain that his focus is on preparing for the new season, saying: "I stay focused on the preparation of the season. EM31." This comes after City’s 4-3 defeat by Celtic in North Carolina, where Pep Guardiola spoke about Ederson’s future.
Guardiola said: "I’d like him to stay but it depends on other clubs. I don’t know the situation. There have been no contacts in the last days. It’s a question of training, being with us until the transfer window finishes and we’ll see."
