Eberechi Eze reveals what referee said to him after denying him wonder goal

Eberechi Eze Reveals What Referee Told Him After Wonder Goal Was Ruled Out

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has opened up about the referee’s decision to rule out his stunning free-kick against Brentford, and it’s clear that he’s still feeling frustrated about the outcome.

In a recent interview, Eze revealed that the referee, Sam Barrott, admitted to him that he made a mistake in ruling out the goal. The decision came after Barrott blew his whistle for a foul by Will Hughes on Nathan Collins before the ball had crossed the line, making it impossible for VAR to intervene.

The goal would have given Palace a much-needed boost, but instead, they went on to lose 2-1 to their London rivals. Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Eze expressed his disappointment at the decision, saying: "The referee told me he made a mistake. He said he didn’t mean to blow the whistle so early."

Palace boss Oliver Glasner also weighed in on the decision, saying: "I think everybody was surprised that the referee blew his whistle so early, but I don’t complain about it because the decision was already made. In this moment, he took the decision. We thought it was a goal, but the rules are that when the ball is in the game and the referee blows his whistle, then it doesn’t count."

The decision has left many Palace fans feeling frustrated and wondering what could have been if the goal had been allowed. However, Glasner has taken the high road, saying: "It shows that the referee is a good character and a good guy. You can always find excuses or tell the players it is part of the game to make mistakes."

The defeat has left Palace struggling to find consistency in the Premier League, and they’ll be looking to bounce back in their next match. With the talent and potential they have in their squad, it’s only a matter of time before they start to pick up more wins.
