Oasis Frontman Liam Gallagher Shares Hilarious Story About His Run-In with Diego Maradona
The Gallagher brothers may have been known for their on-again, off-again feuds, but it seems they can look back on a wild night with Diego Maradona without any hard feelings.
Liam Gallagher recently dished out the details of a memorable encounter with the Argentine football legend, who reportedly threatened to have the Gallagher brothers killed.
According to Liam, the incident went down in Argentina after a gig, when Maradona and his entourage suddenly arrived at the bar where they were celebrating. "We were going ‘Who the f**king hell’s that?’ And we found out it was Maradona," Liam recalled in a 2017 interview with Noisey.
Things quickly took a turn when Maradona invited the brothers upstairs, where they found the Argentine footballing great surrounded by "loads of fking madheads, and loads of fking women of the night."
But despite the surreal atmosphere, Liam claimed there was no bad blood between the parties. "And his eyes were fking like that [huge], and ours weren’t far off, and I just went like, ‘It’s a bit moody in here, let’s get a quick picture with him and fk off,’" Liam joked.
However, things took a dark turn when Maradona allegedly threatened to have the brothers killed if they left with any of the women. "He told me to tell you, if yous leave with any of these b*****s, he’ll have you shot,’" Liam said, recounting the interpreter’s warning.
Despite the threat, Liam claimed there was no bad blood between the parties, and he even took to social media to pay his respects to Maradona following his death in 2020.
Maradona’s legacy continues to fascinate and divide football fans around the world, with many still debating his merits as a player and a manager. But for Liam Gallagher, the experience remains a hilarious and unforgettable story from a wild night in Argentina.
