Drinkwater Hits Back at Hater Who Says He’s "Hit Rock Bottom" After Posting Pic of Himself "Grafting" on Building Site
Former Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has fired back at a fan who called him out for "hitting rock bottom" after posting a picture of himself working on a building site.
The 34-year-old, who announced his retirement from professional football last year, has been keeping busy with his property business and has been known to get his hands dirty on site. He recently posted a picture of himself with the caption "On site today", which sparked a response from one fan who said: "F** h Danny you’ve hit rock bottom [crying face emoji]".
Drinkwater reposted the message on his Instagram story and had some choice words for the hater: "Some of these messages, behave. I love being on site grafting. It’s a choice."
The former Manchester United midfielder has been open about his post-football life, including his struggles to find a new club and his decision to hang up his boots. However, he’s also spoken about his new passion for property development and his desire to build a successful business outside of football.
Drinkwater’s career in football was marked by success, including a Premier League title with Leicester in 2016. However, he struggled to find a new club after leaving Chelsea in 2022 and eventually announced his retirement.
Despite the setbacks, Drinkwater remains optimistic about his future and is determined to make a success of himself outside of football. As he told The High Performance podcast, "Football has given me some absolutely great years. It’s also given me some sh*** times but the good years definitely outweigh the bad."
