Cristiano Ronaldo’s Shocking Manchester United Comeback: Could it Happen?
It’s been a wild ride for Cristiano Ronaldo since his departure from Manchester United in 2022. After a brief stint with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, the 39-year-old Portuguese superstar has been making waves with his incredible form on the pitch. And, according to his former teammate Louis Saha, Ronaldo could be plotting a shock return to Old Trafford in the future.
Saha, who played with Ronaldo during his first spell at United from 2004-2008, believes that Ronaldo’s passion and dedication could see him return to the club in a coaching or management capacity. "Cristiano Ronaldo has the passion and dedication to return to Manchester United one day," Saha told TVSporten. "He will work out how to be successful and use all his knowledge to do that; we’ve seen Roy Keane go into management and have success. Cristiano will understand what he needs to do as a manager. I see no reason why he wouldn’t be a success."
But, could Ronaldo really make a shock return to Manchester United? The answer is complicated. While Ronaldo has never ruled out management, he has stressed that it’s not something he sees himself doing at this stage. Moreover, with Erik ten Hag recently signing a new deal at the club, it’s highly unlikely Ronaldo would be involved in any capacity with the Dutchman still at the helm.
So, what could drive Ronaldo’s potential return to Manchester United? One possibility is that he sees an opportunity to take over as manager in the future, perhaps when ten Hag’s contract expires. Alternatively, Ronaldo could be eyeing a role as a director of football or even a part-owner of the club.
Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United would be a massive shock to the football world. And, if Louis Saha’s words are anything to go by, it’s not entirely out of the question.
