Cristiano Ronaldo surprised fans by sending a birthday message to YouTuber iShowSpeed on Instagram.
The streamer, whose real name is Darren Watkins, turned 20 on January 21 and posted a dump to his Instagram featuring a variety of recent photos.
Ronaldo superfan Speed showed off his CR7-themed cake, posted a photo of himself wearing an Argentina shirt in Buenos Aires and even ended the album with a quirky image of his idol.
The post received 5.6 million likes on Instagram and incredibly, Ronaldo, the most followed man on the platform, was in the comments with a special message for Speed.
The two have met once before with the help of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao. It was a huge moment for the American, who kept saying “Oh my God” after linking up with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner after several near misses.
The two took a photo after Portugal’s win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in June 2023, with Speed also attempting a ‘SIUUU’ celebration.
After the content creator celebrated no longer being a teenager, Ronaldo wrote: “Happy birthday, Speed! Hope you had a great day. Stay wild and fast!”.
Ronaldo, who has 648 million followers on the platform, wrote this comment about 12 hours ago, since which the comment has received more than 800,000 likes.

Speed spent a lot of time personally trying to track down Ronaldo and now fast forward a few years and it appears he is his best mate.
Ahead of Christmas, YouTube sensations MrBeast and Ronaldo filmed collaboration content together and then proceeded to add speed in a group chat with the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend.
An excited Speed was on the livestream and delivered his message to the group, which read: “Hey Ronaldo, it’s Speed, we met last year. I just wanted to say hello, and hopefully we can meet again soon. Cheers.”
Ronaldo is not the only superstar in his phonebook, Speed also claims to have the number of Real and Brazil star Vinicius Junior, who came second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings.
