Cristiano Ronaldo has previously named two of his football idols, having played against both men during their illustrious careers.
Ronaldo will always be remembered as one of the greatest players in football history.
During his illustrious career, the Portuguese has played for big clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
So far, the 39-year-old has scored 781 goals in 1040 club matches and he is looking to add to this number as he currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
Having won five Ballon d’Or trophies, Ronaldo has inspired a new generation of players, such as Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Andrique, Bukayo Saka and Alejandro Garnacho.
But the former Madrid and Juventus superstar also had two idols he looked up to.
Cristiano Ronaldo had two football idols growing up
The 39-year-old has admitted that he grew up watching Brazilian greats Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldinho, who won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil and claimed three Ballon d’Ors.
He pointed out that he has more individual accolades than either of them, yet acknowledged that he has won a World Cup trophy that the Portuguese superstar will likely never receive.
“I don’t like comparisons,” Ronaldo SaidSpeaking to ESPN Brazil in 2022.
“I would love to say that both [Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldinho Gaúcho] Left behind his legacy, his history. I can say based on facts that I won more individual titles than them, but both won World Cups.
“I sympathize with him a lot. I have grown up watching both of them play. Saying who is the best, who is second is not the most important thing.”
