Cristiano Ronaldo’s Petty Attempt to Troll Transfermarkt by Blocking Them on Instagram Revealed
It’s no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo can be quite a handful, even in retirement. Recently, it’s been reported that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner attempted to troll Transfermarkt by blocking them on Instagram after they downgraded his stats.
The website, which specializes in providing comprehensive information on clubs and players worldwide, has a market value system that evaluates players based on their performances for club and country. According to Busch, Transfermarkt’s UK manager, Ronaldo was unhappy with his value of £67.5 million, which was a decrease from the £88 million Juventus paid for him in 2018.
What Triggered Ronaldo’s Fury?
Apparently, Transfermarkt published a list of 10 players 33 and older, and Ronaldo was still on top. However, he believed he was worth much more and sent a message to the website’s social media team claiming that the list was inaccurate.

Busch shared the conversation with The Athletic, explaining that Ronaldo sent smilies but eventually blocked the website. The supposed difference in value between Ronaldo and the next player on the list was around £30-50 million.
Not the Only One to Take Issue
Ronaldo isn’t the only one to have a problem with Transfermarkt. Turkish side Fenerbahce once filed a lawsuit against the website, accusing them of "negatively manipulating" the values of their players.
Current Market Value: €15 Million
Ronaldo’s current market value is at €15 million, a far cry from his highest valuation of €120 million in 2014. With his contract with Al Nassr reportedly worth up to €175 million per year, it’s clear that Transfermarkt’s downgrade has had little impact on Ronaldo’s financial future.
