Cristiano Ronaldo has made a shock revelation, stating that he’s no longer bothered about being the best player in the world. The Portuguese superstar, who’s been in scintillating form for Al-Nassr, has shifted his focus from personal glory to helping his teammates achieve success.
The 39-year-old forward, who recently scored in Al-Nassr’s 2-1 win against Qatari side Al-Rayyan in the AFC Champions League group stage, says that he’s no longer fixated on breaking records. "It’s not important anymore whether I’m the best or not, I no longer care about that," Ronaldo said. "For me, it’s better for the team to win."
Ronaldo’s comments come as a surprise, given his unparalleled success throughout his career. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has won numerous accolades and has consistently been one of the top performers in the world. However, he’s now prioritizing his team’s success over his own individual achievements.
"I’m used to breaking records and I no longer look for them. The most important thing for me now is to enjoy and help Al-Nassr and my teammates to win," Ronaldo added.
The attacking ace has been on fire since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, scoring the 904th goal of his career in the Champions League win. He also scored his 901st career goal in a Nations League match against Scotland last month.
Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr is set to expire in the near future, and he’s hinted that he may retire from the game soon. "I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years, but probably I will retire here at Al-Nassr," he said in an interview.
